Sugar Demo Olympics: In Search of the Killer Demo
The Game is on at SKO FY’24! We will host the first Sugar Demo Olympics in Atlanta and crown the Sugar Demo Champion.
Do you have what it takes to build a killer demo and get on stage to show it to the world? Are you in it to win it?
What is the Demo Olympics?
The Demo Olympics is an international contest of the best and most creative SugarCRM demo athletes from around the world; it is being held for the first time at SKO FY24 in Atlanta. Contestants will compete as individuals or in teams against others over the course of two days. The winner will walk away with a great prize.
Who can participate?
Every Sugar employee is eligible to participate as long as they register before December 31st.
You can sign up as an individual demo warrior or as a team of up to three team members.
Why should I participate?
You want to show off your demo and storytelling skills. You think you can build and deliver the best Sugar demo. You want to become the Sugar demo champion and enter the Sugar hall of fame…
Plus: Here is your shot at winning $1000!
I can win $1,000?
- Yes, the winner/winning team will receive $1,000
- The prize is a fixed amount. If a team with multiple team members wins the competition, they will split the prize money
What is the format?
- This is a sprint competition, not a marathon:
- Each demo is supposed to be 5 minutes. Get your story straight!
- Every team gets additional 5 minutes for set-up and introduction of the team and the demo scenario
- You will bring your own laptop
- The total time on stage is not to exceed 10 minutes (there will be no exceptions!)
- Every team has one chance to demo on stage in front of a live audience.
- We will have time slots for 2 or 3 demos in a row throughout two days in-between other sessions.
- The winner will be determined by the popular vote. All SKO attendees can vote via voting/polling app.
How do I register?
- A registration link is included in the SKO announcement email.
- You can also go here.
- We will accept registration from December 15th to December 31st!
Can I register with just my contact information and add team members later?
- Yes, this is possible as long as you meet the registration deadline.
What if I do not register for the Demo Olympics or miss the deadline, can I still participate?
- Demo slots are limited, so registration to participate is required.
- We may not be able to accept registrations after Dec 31st
Will everyone who registers be able to participate?
- We do have a limited number of time slots for the demo competition
- If we have more registrations than slots we will defer to the GM’s to select the final competitors after the registration deadline (Dec 31).
How do I know I got in?
- We will notify everyone via email by January 31st or sooner.
What are the requirements for the demo?
- The actual product demo needs to be live!!! – NO videos or animated gifs
- The demo needs to show Sugar Sell, Sugar Market or Sugar Serve, or a combination
- You can choose an end-to-end scenario or pick a very specific use case
- Consider specific capabilities of Premier for example
- You can use slides or other material to complement the demo and support your story
- No more than three team members
- The demo should be with the new UI
How can I get more information about the demo after I get selected?
- We will organize a zoom call for all selected participants of the contest shortly after the notifications go out to provide further guidance and answer any questions you may have
What will we be judged on?
- The winner will be determined by popular vote of all attendees, so you need to convince the audience
- Participants and voters should consider the following:
- Demo idea and creativity
- Storytelling, messaging & entertainment factor
- Value proposition & business benefits
- Differentiation vs. competition
- Showcasing recent innovation(s)
- You may reach out to Christian Wettre or Volker Hildebrand in advance for additional guidance wrt. the demo.
